Ihala KumbukWewa is located in Hambantota district and home to over 700 families and main sources of livelihood of Ihala Kumbukwewa villagers are paddy farming and freshwater fishing.
Due to consumption of contaminated water, many villagers including children had been victims of chronic kidney diseases for a long time.
As an organization solely dedicated to resolve underprivileged communities’ issues, this issue was identified by the Gammadda team during a “Door to Door” research held on 2022 and the Gammadda team successfully installed a RO Water Filtration System on 05th April 2024 in Ihala Kumbukwewa ending the misery of its villagers.
Technical support for this project was given by the Sri Lanka Navy and generously funded by Mr. Mahendra Amarasooriya.
