Beralihela Kanishta Vidyalaya is situated within the Lunugamwehera Education Division of the Hambantota District. The school caters to approximately 480 students, with a majority of their parents engaged in daily wage labor.
One significant challenge confronting the school is the scarcity of drinking water, a critical necessity for both students and staff. The root cause of this issue lies in the fact that the school receives water only twice a week. This problem was identified by the Gammadda team during a door-to-door research initiative in 2022, prompting them to take proactive measures. Consequently, a water distribution system and storage tank are being constructed to address this issue.
The realization of this project has been made possible through the generous financial contributions of Mrs. Devthilini Ramzey in memory of late mother Ms. Thelge Preethi Indramali Fernando, Miss Mohideen Hassan, Miss Nalini Piyasena, and Mahacharya Vincent Pastor Peiris.
In recognition of this initiative, the foundation stone for the project was laid on an auspicious date, February 4, 2024.
With regard to the commencement, Gammadda had planned to organize a splendid Independence Day celebration with the collaboration of schoolchildren from Hambantota, Lunugamwehera, Tissamaharamaya, and the residents of Beralihela village.
Gammadda leader Chevan Daniel, along with many other esteemed guests, participated in this event.
The ceremony, featuring captivating dances, commenced following the proud display of the 76th Independence Day parade.
A heartfelt thank you to all who joined hands with Gammadda in making the 76th Independence Day celebration a grand success.
