Nestled in the serene landscapes of Kantale DS division within the Trincomalee District, the humble village of Seenipura stands as a testament to unity and peaceful coexistence. Harmoniously sharing its soil, Sinhalese and Muslim communities thrive together, their livelihoods centered around dairy farming and daily wage labor.
Yet, amidst the tranquil beauty of Seenipura, a pressing challenge persists, casting a shadow over the community's well-being — the lack of access to clean drinking water. Each day, the villagers embark on a grueling journey spanning kilometers to fetch water from a neighboring village or resort to purchasing water, straining their limited resources. Recognizing the hardships faced by the villagers, the resilient people of Seenipura turned to Gammadda, seeking a lifeline that would provide consistent access to clean drinking water. In response to their heartfelt pleas, Gammadda embarked on an ambitious endeavor, commencing work on the much-awaited clean water project on the 12th of June, 2023. The village has a tube well in the premises of the local temple that is contaminated. This will be the source of the planned Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant.
The impact of this project extends beyond quenching their thirst. With a local school accommodating 250 students and a Sunday school nurturing 175 eager learners, the availability of clean drinking water will catalyze educational opportunities, empowering the youth with a solid foundation for their dreams to flourish. The ripple effects of this endeavor will be felt far and wide, igniting a spark of hope, resilience, and progress throughout Seenipura - a testament to the power of collaboration and the indomitable spirit of rural communities.
