Residents of Senagama are experiencing an epidemic of Chronic Kidney Diseases due to their contaminated water supply.
In the heart of Naula Divisional Secretariat, located within Matale district, lies Senagama village, a community defined by its deep rooted agricultural traditions. Home to approximately 250 families, this village thrives on the cultivation of its fertile lands, spanning over 500 acres, making it the largest farming community in the district. However, Senagama faced a silent yet severe health challenge. Around 50 villagers are currently undergoing treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease, a stark reminder of the water quality issues plaguing the area.
Installation of an RO Plant in the village of Senagama using an existing water source. Construct Water Distribution Point for villagers with access to clean drinking water- free of harmful pollutants. Further, it will reduce the incidence rate of water borne illnesses in the resident population. Moreover, Gammadda will introduce a preventive and periodic maintenance plan to ensure project longevity by forming a Gammadda Saviya Society.
