Development progress
Gammadda and HNB Club joined together to comprehensively develop the village of Yaya 06 in Anuradhapura. The ‘Yaya 06 Grama Niladhari Division’ is home to approximately 600 families covering five villages. This model village development consists of providing clean drinking water, fixing an access road, providing a fully furnished library and computer lab, gender segregated toilets for school children and teachers, repairing the village temple, construction of a new community hall and cleaning of the village tank.
Yaya 06 is a village in Mahavillachchiya, Anuradhapura. This is a farming community. The road from Yaya 06 to the main junction (Mannar Road) where a centralized bus station is located needs to be repaired. It has never been maintained by the government. The road covers a distance of 4 km. This road is used by farmers carrying their harvests, workers, pregnant mothers, school children and sick patients- due to this shortcoming- villagers are unable to access essential services such as employment, health, education, banking, markets, trade and government services. This road is inaccessible by vehicle- even walking is difficult. This road is a gateway to many other villages and a world of opportunities.
The Gammadda Model Village recognizes the importance of mobility and commenced work on repairing the road from the village to the nearest bus depot- allowing for regular bus service. Work on this 4 KM road was completed on 18/8/2023
